Here To Serve.

A PRACTICAL EXTENSION OF OUR
CHURCH COMMUNITY

The month of October it’s our HERE TO SERVE month, where we intentionally serve others and love on our local community with acts of kindness and generosity. We’ll be partnering with local & international community organisations to lend a hand and help those in need.

We would love for you to be part of what we’re doing in the community – together we can achieve so much more! There are multiple opportunities to sign up to serve from home and come together and serve over 2 Sundays in October. We would encourage you to sign up to serve somewhere on each of these days.

” We love because he first loved us.”

– 1 JOHN 4:19

MEALS FOR HOME IN QUEANBEYAN

HOME provides long-term supported accommodation for twenty men and women with enduring mental illness.  It features twenty self-contained residential apartments in a safe, loving, non-institutional setting.

If you love to cook or have the time we would love for you to commit to make a meal in the next few weeks. We will be collecting meals throughout the month that can be frozen and given to the residents at HOME in Queanbeyan. This is especially needed during this COVID season and over lockdown where volunteers coming into HOME are limited. Family sized meals that feed a few mouths would be great and need to be frozen. Meals can be dropped to Rach & AJ Pickrell or a collection day will be organised with you once you sign up. This opportunity to serve can be done anytime throughout the months of October & November and is a great way to bless some of our local residents with a home cooked meal and relieve some pressure from the regular volunteers at HOME!

Vinnies Queanbeyan

Food & Toy Drive (Virtual + In Person)

Your generosity can help bring joy and comfort to people this Christmas. We are excited to be partnering with Vinnies Queanbeyan to supply pantry items and toys for their Christmas Appeal. Every year Vinnies helps families across our region in need by providing them with essentials and yummy Christmas goodies for them to enjoy the Christmas season with their families. 2021 has proved to be a challenging year for many families and the demand for Vinnies Christmas hampers is higher than ever.

You can click here to see our virtual food & toy drive where you can donate a hamper, or pick some pantry or toy items to contribute online & our volunteers will do the shopping for you! We will also be having a donation collection day for those who would like to buy pantry items or toys themselves to contribute (a great thing to involve the kids in!). We will be collecting donations on Sunday 31st October from 3-5pm at the carpark of our new building (116 Monaro St, Qbn).

Birthing Kits International

Donate Online

Central to the work of KIT International, formerly known as the Birthing Kit Foundation Australia, is the support that they provide to mothers and newborns as part of the Clean Birth Kit Initiative. Through this project, they work with Australian and Global Partners to pack and supply Clean Birth Kits to expectant mothers in humanitarian crisis and under-resourced settings throughout the world.

We will be collecting donations for Kit International to provide Clean Birth Kits to women in need all around the world. With all the donations we collect during our Here to Serve month we will then buy the supplies needed to pack the birth kits and in 2022 will hold a Birth Kit Packing day (in our new building!!) to prepare the kits! Click here to donate a Clean Birth Kit!
