Working Bee
We’re having a Working Bee straight after church to give our building and grounds a good deep clean and freshen up, making sure we have a beautiful, welcoming space for all of us to enjoy and for our community to feel at home in. Later in the month, we’re opening our doors and inviting our wider community into our church home — and we want to make
sure we’re ready!
Lunch will be provided and there’ll be plenty of different jobs to get involved in, so everyone can play a part!

Birthing Kit Foundation
The Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia) is a humanitarian organisation that provides birthing kits and education in clean birthing practices to women birthing at home in remote regions of the developing world.
Together we will be packing 200 birthing kits to be shipped to women in need around the world! Please note, due to the hygiene requirements for the kits, kids who would like to help with this serving opportunity will need to have a parent with them.

BACKYARD BLITZ
This October, we have the opportunity to bless a local family in our community with a Backyard Blitz! Through our connection with the Department of Education, we’ve been connected with a family who could use a helping hand. We want to come alongside them and give their backyard a much-needed makeover — creating a beautiful, safe and enjoyable space for their family to use and enjoy.
This will be a practical way for us to show the love of Jesus through action — getting our hands dirty, working together and blessing a family simply because we can.

Ministry of Food
The Ministry of Food is an organisation committed to showing practical love and care to people doing it tough by providing free, nutritious meals and creating spaces where people can connect, feel welcomed and know they’re not alone. Every Wednesday night in Queanbeyan, they serve free hot meals from 7–8pm at 1 Farrer Place, right next to the Queanbeyan Night Podz bus.
We have the opportunity to serve alongside The Ministry of Food for two Wednesday nights. We’ll be helping serve meals, connecting with people from our local community, and most importantly, taking the time to chat, listen and pray with people who may be doing it tough. This is a simple but powerful opportunity to step outside the walls of our church and be the hands and feet of Jesus!

Pre-Loved Fashion Sale
Our Pre-Loved Sale is back again raising money for the amazing work that Louisa Domestic Violence Service does in our local community. Louisa Domestic Violence Service has operated in the Queanbeyan/Palerang Region for over 40 years. They are a Specialist Homelessness Service providing support to women, men and children experiencing domestic and family violence. This will be a massive event and we are after a range of volunteers to help. This is an amazing opportunity to connect with our local community, invite them into our home and support a great cause!

Event Team on the Day
These teams will have mixed responsibilities including greeting people, making coffee, collecting & sorting coat hangers
as clothes are taken, taking payments at door or cafe etc
Set Up / First Half Team 9-12pm
Pack Down / Second Half 12-3pm
We’re also collecting donations of good quality second hand clothes & shoes in the lead up to the event.
Goods can be brought to the building throughout Sept & October.

OTHER WAYS TO SERVE IN OCTOBER
Fortnightly Hampers
Every second Friday our team provide free food hampers to those in our local community who could use a helping hand!
If you can spare an hour or two on Friday 9th or 23rd October, we’d love for you to come and serve with our Friday Food Hamper team, distributing hampers and spending time having a coffee and chat in the process.
Why not take an extended lunch break or use some flex time to come serve and bless our community!

Food Donations
Throughout October, we’re collecting donations for our Food Hamper Program, and this month we’re specifically looking for recipe bases and easy dinner items such as:
Pasta sauces & recipe bases
Simmer sauces & curry bases
Taco kits & meal kits
Canned meals and ingredients that can be used to make a family dinner
These are often some of the more expensive parts of the weekly grocery shop, so a simple donation can help take some of that pressure off a family doing it tough. If you’re doing your grocery shop, why not grab an extra dinner item for a family in our community? Donations can be placed on the hamper donation shelf in the foyer.
Love on a Local
We want to encourage you to be intentional with loving and serving others throughout the month of October (and beyond!). Whether that’s mowing your neighbour’s lawn, paying for the person behind you in the drive through, making a meal for someone in need or simply a word of encouragement to a stranger.
We never know the impact of a small act of kindness and generosity. We are praying that the people around us would experience the love of Christ through our words and actions as we intentionally step out this October.
